Types of Breasts

Shila and Mina are sisters. The older, Shila is self-conscious about her body. While Mina has round breasts, Shila’s are conical. She reads up on breast muscle exercises to fix her issue.

Are your boobs round like Mina’s or in a different shape like Shila’s?

Does it make you self-conscious?

Who do you think has the correct shape?

The answer is both of them. All breasts are unique. They have different shapes, sizes, and colors.

We are fed with the ‘round perky breasts’ ideal. While some women do have more rounder boobs than others, no one has the perfect circle shape that is so hyped up.

Unless you experience pain, infections, oversensitivity, or numbness in your breasts, there is nothing wrong with how it looks.

TYpes of Breasts

Breast shapes and sizes are determined by genetics, weight, age, pregnancy, and hormone levels. Genetics is a huge factor for breasts. Plus-size women are more likely to have fuller breasts while losing weight can decrease your cup size. Pregnant women have round breasts.

You may have noticed your breasts feel fuller before your period. The released progesterone and estrogen swell up your breasts.

Since there are many breast types, examining yourself can be helpful to figure out yours. Wearing something big and loose and a mirror can help to understand your boob shape.

Round: Both breasts are circular. The top and bottom halves of the boobs have the same proportions. Most bras are designed according to this shape.

Asymmetric: This is the most common type of breasts. One boob is bigger than the other. No matter the breast shape, most women have uneven boobs. Some people have different cup sizes for each breast. If you have this type, you can try wearing bras with padding.

Tear Drop: This shape shares a resemblance to the round shape. But instead of even fullness, the top side is a tad smaller than the bottom part.

East-West: Sometimes the nipples can point in opposite directions. If your breasts are not facing the center, then you have this type. Push-up bras help to center them.

Athletic: Athletic breasts are wider, but they have less tissue in the chest area. They are not full like round breasts.

Conical: This is often found in smaller cup sizes. The breasts are not circular but rather a cone shape. The lower side of the breast is much bigger than the upper side.

Bell Shape: these breasts are more circular. The top part is narrow while the bottom side is more circle and fuller. Because of the shape, the boobs look like bells, hence, the name.

Slender: Slender breasts are easy to identify as they are thinner in shape. The cup size doesn’t matter here. If your breasts are more long than full, and the nipples are facing down, then you have slender boobs.

Relaxed: If your breasts are facing down and feel less firm, then they are relaxed. Loose breasts don’t always come with age. Genetics play a role, and some women have natural down-facing boobs.

Close Set: In this type, the two breasts have almost zero to small space in between. They are closely placed but far from underarm.

Side Set: opposite to close-set, here the two breasts have significant space between them. Wearing front-close bras can help to center them.

No matter the breast size and shape, you should walk with confidence. There is no ‘correct’ boob shape. Everyone has different shapes that are unique to them.
